I bought this tiny computer about a week ago and so far it had been fantastic. Until now I’ve not learned anything to complain about while using netbook so I will list a couple of in the points I like:
- Even together with the extended capacity battery, the laptop or computer is extremely light and portable
- The battery life is wonderful! My daughter watched movies for nearly 8 hours on our plane ride home without a hitch or stutter. Right after getting in use for nearly the whole flight, it even now had 35% from the battery remaining. One more note within the battery, inside earlier 1005 netbooks, the battery would stick out past the screen for the rear with the netbook. That may be no longer the case, about the 1005PE it can be flush using the rear on the netbook.
- The keyboard is nice and decent size. I nearly bought a Toshiba solely because I did not like the keyboard for the 1005HA version of this machine. Asus changed the keyboard on this model to a chiclet keyboard which is very much greater. I saw 1 review that thought the keyboard was flimsy. As far as I can tell, the Asus has no much more flexibility inside keyboard than the Acer or Toshiba netbooks I looked at.
- Windows 7 starter and Asus Utility. I saw a couple of reviews where men and women complained about Win7 Starter. Again, so far no problems with the OS, it does what its intended to do. As far as the complaints about altering the background about the desktop, Asus was type adequate to produce a utility that makes changing the background quite simple.
- WLAN – since I bought the netbook, it has been in 6 locations that have wireless world-wide-web and it has jumped for the network simply every time regardless on encryption.
A couple a lot more thoughts on netbooks in general:
- Netbooks aren’t desktop replacements or miniture laptops. They’re intended to provide simple computing and internet requirements. If you’re expecting it to glide by means of huge power point presentations or apps that demand a lot of RAM and processing power you will probably be disappointed. If all you require is often a pc that travels very easily and will enable you to surf the web, play music and video and run office programs, netbooks is usually a extremely very excellent option.
- I would advise that anyone who buys a netbook take away as a lot with the installed software as they can. I was able to get rid of alot of pre-loaded junk plus the netbook ran quicker. Here are a couple of program that I reckon each netbook must have: Firefox or Google Chrome for world wide web, vlc (Videolan) for music and movie playback, Open Office 3 for word processing, spreadsheets, etc and Foxit Reader for opening .pdf files.
Also, I’ve witnessed several recommendations to replace the 1GB Ram with a 2GB stick. I’ve not completed this yet and it still works brilliant. At the moment I’ve a 4GB SD card installed to see if you can find any performance gains applying the Windows Reafyboost function. So far so excellent.
The bottom line is that this netbook has exceeded my expectations and is usually a solid tiny machine. I would suggest it to anyone in search of a very excellent netbook.
