I have an Asus EEE and I've used it with Rational Software Architect, a piece of dev software that's waaaaaaaaay heavier on the CPU that what you want to do. The screen is small, but it's ideal for a lightweight, cheap solution for dev work. You can install the LAMP/xampp stack and do your dev work using the editor of your choice. Yes, of course they do.
