I have a couple of used laptops. What’s the best way to erase personal information from them?

I’d need to keep the operating systems and programs if possible.

The best way is to format the computer and reinstall windows, the only thing that you will lose is anything that you installed or added to it.

Reformat using your install disk. That will wipe out everything and take the computer back to the way it was when you bought it. First, make sure you save any files you want to keep to a CD.

best way to delete personal information or prevent people to steal it, ruin the hard drive. if you don’t some people can fish out deleted stuff from the hard drive.
