I bought 2 used laptops, how do I know if there is a wireless card installed?

there are no owners manuals, or anything with them I want to connect to a wireless connection with 2 desktop computers also

Wireless card would stick out the side and can be removed like a floppy.

Right click on the My Computer icon and click on Properties. Click on the Hardware tab. Click on device manager. Then look under Network Adapters and look for wireless cards there.

    OR

Go to My Computer. Click on the My Network Places link on the sidebar to the left. Then click on the View Network Connections link on the sidebar to the left. See if there is anything that says Wireless Connection or Wireless Network.

Turn the computer on, and look at the bottom right hand side and if you dont see something pop up saying something about wireless than it doesnt. Usually if theres a wireless connection, it’ll automatically connect you into the internet and it’ll let u kno what network your in

ON START , GO TO CONNECT TO AND CLICK ON YOUR WIRELESS CONNECTION. THAT WILL TELL YOU IF YOU HAVE A WIRELESS CONNECTION. OR- GO TO CONTROL PANEL AND LOOK FOR THE WIRELESS OPTION

Right click My Computer and select properties. Go to Hardware tab and select Device Manager. If you did have wireless in your laptop or desktop computers, you would see it under Network Adapters.

You would see the words wireless, 54Mbps, 11mbps, 802.11 in one of the device names. It is unlikely you have wireless in your desktop computers and you would need to buy PCI 802.11g cards.

As for your laptop, if the laptop is less 3 years ancient, you most likely have wireless. If it is older, then it’s a toss up. If you end up not having wireless, then you can buy an 802.11g PCMCIA card or 802.11g USB adapter.

Do some research on the computers and find out what you can. Hope you found out what you needed to.

look closely at the machine on the side or the front should be a small light that lights up if you are close to a modem ,but you must configure it in network connections by programming the wep key of the modem

I need more information. What is the OS? 95? 98? 2000? XP Home? XP Pro? This would help a fantastic deal in figuring it out.
