You could but if Microsoft feels that the key is being used too much, it may revoke your license rendering your current key useless.
If your desktop is running the same version of XP then you can use the same key on your desktop. Unfortunatly, it won’t help to bypass the windows genuine advantage checks.
Permit me to clarify what small i know about the WGA. When you activate your version of XP it generates another key based on the hardware inside your system. this key is also sent to microsoft. When you run the genuinecheck program on your pc it will generate an activation code, if that code matches the code microsft has stored in thier database they believe your pc to be the genuine thing.
If you change a certain amount of hardware on your computer, the authentication key may also change on your system and microsoft will tell you windows is not genuine.
I don’t reckon my answer is technically right but i do believe the WGA system would function in a similar manner.
Maybe an expert on the subject will come along and clarify it better or maybe you should question the question: how does Windows genuine Advantage work?
Yeah you can do that, but that would be illigeal. Also if you can manage to get a corporate image of windows xp, with which you can build unlimited users and unlimited use of windows xp, then there are plenty of product keys, even some key generators for such software available in the internet.
If XP came preinstalled on the laptop they key can most likely only be used with that particular laptop, or a laptop from the same manufacturer.
no you cant use the same product key on different computers
nope
No that wont work. It has to be registered for the specific copy of Windows. If that was the case we all would have bootleg copies with only one key. Microsoft isnt stupid.
No, I’ve tried it won’t work. I even tried putting my norton virus protection on my other computer & it won’t work. Its crazy isn’t it/?
