I am trying to convince my mom to let me get a laptop, but I need some suggestions first.
I would be using the laptop for iTunes, my pictures, and Internet Explorer.
A Mac is a bit expensive, so I was leaning more on the less fancier ones.

My Suggestion would be to have a look at the brand name people who deal in Microsoft Based Laptops, such as Dell or Acer, as they tend to be the most reliable options, particularly when it comes to Laptops, and are more likley to stay around to fulfil the terms of warantee. If you are looking at only using the three things you are looking at you should not have to worry too much about getting any special kind of Video hardware, high end processors, or extra RAM, although you should look closely at teh amount of hard drive space if you plot to keep a lot of music on it. If you keep these things in mind you should be able to get a (relatively) cheap Laptop from them that will fulfil your needs.
