I Bought my wife a Sony Vaio for christmas, she just returned from the Philippines, and we powered it up, and I cant remember the password I made. . . Even the hint doesnt ring bells for either of us.

I have a year ancient toshiba satellite. whenever I turn it on it starts up like normal, but then it gets to the menu where you choose users and the screen turns black, but the mouse still shows up and I can go it around. the light is on, but nothing shows up. I’ve tried starting it in safe mode and turning it off and on, and even just leaving it alone for a few hours but nothing worked. can I fix it somehow?

How can I disable the sony vaio start up sound? Not the windows start up, but the actual start up / power on sound / jingle that is the first thing you hear when you turn on a vaio.

Assuming that everything is normal. My new Dell Inspiron 1525 (which was to replace the defective system board) issued twice a boot, or when waking from hibernation or standby. I have not had any problems so far, but I wonder if this is normal. Thanks in advance for anyone who answers:)

When I open the laptop the “Compaq” banner is showed but what do I have to press to get it to start Windows?
