I bought a used Sony Vaio and for a few months it worked fine and ran quietly. But now, all of a sudden, the hard drive is making a LOT more noise, to the point where it is annoying, and it;s running a lot slower. Everything is taking a lot longer to load. What could be incorrect with it, and what can I do?

I have an Acer Aspire 3000 laptop here and when it boots into Windows it nearly locks up. It goes so slow that when you go the mouse cursor it takes ages for it to go and then freezes before it moves again. I removed the main battery and it is fine without it. Every time I re-insert the battery the problem comes back. I have booted into Windows without the battery and re-inserted it but the problem remains. Any thoughts anyone?

I have a huge 16” laptop at home. I
am in college and it is so huge, I don’t want to take it to school. I was looking into netbooks, to take to school but the specs are so low. Are they really slow? I just need to be able to use word and surf internet. . Is it better to buy one of these or a cheaper 13” laptop? Also are there any 12” laptops?
