Can Dell Latitude D610 Battery Be Charged Via Both 110 And 220 V Power?

Hi,
I recenly bought a Dell Latitude D610 and want to take it overseas with me next week. So I was wondering if I can charge its battery over there (220V power) using the same charger? Will that work or I will need something extra?
Thanks

How Do AC to DC Power Adapters Work?

Most electronics run on direct current (DC) power. This is the type of power that batteries place out, and it is straightforward to deal with when engineering electronics. But, the power that runs through power lines and homes is alternating current (AC) power. Alternating in this case refers to the fact that AC power switches direction back and forth quickly, flowing in both directions along an electrical line. This bidirectional flow would hurt DC equipment, which is only capable of handling power flowing in one direction, thus the need for an AC/DC adapter. take for “hp Pavilion DV6000 AC Adapter” example: Hp Pavilion DV6000 AC Adapter 90W 19V 4. 74A Bullet shape tip Description: http://www. udtek. com/hp-pavilion-dv6000-ac-adapter-90w-19v-474a-bullet-shape-tip-p-4822. html Input: AC100-240V (worldwide use) Output: DC19V 4. 74A Power: 90W Connecter size (Bullet shape tip): Internal Diameter: 1. 6mm External Diameter: (4. 75+4. 2)mm Item Includes: AC Adapter and Power Cord. Physical Conversion To convert alternating current into direct current, an AC/DC adapter makes use of an electronic component called a rectifier. This component takes an electrical input and only allows power to flow in one direction out of it, effectively making DC power. Rectifiers are only capable of handling a certain level of electrical current before they are irreparably hurt, so make sure to check your power adapters before bringing them to location with different levels of AC power. For example, do not attempt to use adapters rated only for U. S. (110 volt) electricity in Europe, where electricity is typically 220 volts. Failure to take this into account could result in hurt to your power adapter or electronic devices. Voltage and Amperage Unlike AC power, which is well standardized for voltage and amperage within a country, DC power required for a piece of electronic equipment can vary wildly. Make sure not to use a AC/DC adapter on your electronics that is not rated for a different voltage, as you run the risk of damaging your equipment. Using a power adapter rated for a higher amperage than your electronic equipment is safe, as the equipment will only draw the necessary current.

Is The Power Cord For A Dell Latitude Compatible With A Dell Inspiron?

Just bought a Dell Inspiron 15 for personal use, but I have a power cord for a Dell Latitude from my work computer, which has worked with three different Latitude models. Before I hook it up and run the risk of frying my new computer, anyone out there know if it’ll work?

HP and Boston Power have been testing the Sonata lithium-ion batteries for three years

Lampe-Onnerud and executives at other lithium ion start-ups, but, counter that none of these alternatives can provide the energy density and BATTERY HP ZT1190 life of lithium ion. Lithium ion batteries can also be recharged far more times than other alternatives. The company has done a number of things to improve lithium ion battery performance and safety, according to Lampe-Onnerud. The company has also redesigned the ZT1200 BATTERY pack to have fewer cells and has made a number of manufacturing improvements, she clarified. She argued that the Sonata batteries are a “clean technology” because they are more energy-efficient. The company also seeks to use less harmful reactive chemicals and no heavy metals. “The fundamental issue is that ever since they’ve designed mobile systems, they’ve always made trade-offs in the way they ran the processor to extend battery life,” said Nathan Brookwood, a principal at Insight 64, noting that Intel’s upcoming power management technology, dubbed Geyserville, should make a noticeable difference. “The best is yet to come in that regard. ” HP and Boston Power have been testing the Sonata lithium-ion batteries for three years. The PAVILION ZT1200 BATTERY were designed specifically for laptop use. After three years of use, the batteries will be able to keep 80 percent of their initial charge. “Fourth-quarter demand is strong. But shortages of batteries and DRAM could affect orders for the quarter,” Compal President Ray Chen told an investor conference, according to Reuters. Antec, known for its PC cases and power supplies, showed off its recently introduced NP100 universal laptop power adapter at Digital Life. Compatible with most Dell, HP, Lenovo, Sony, and Toshiba laptops, the NP100 includes a series of interchangeable connectors and a switch to control output voltage for different laptop models. The cream-of-the-crop components played a crucial role in making the 24-hour battery life possible. HP says the Illumi-Lite LED show, by itself, boosts battery run time by up to four hours compared with traditional LCD displays, and the Intel SSD provides up to a 7 percent increase in battery life compared with traditional hard drives. In addition to helping achieve outstanding battery life, Intel’s SSDs provide greater durability and reliability as well as quicker system responsiveness. HP claims its benchmarks show overall performance boosts of up to 57 percent on industry benchmarks, and data transfer rates nearly six times quicker than traditional hard disks. While these numbers and the claimed battery life haven’t been confirmed by CNET Labs’ independent tests, they’d better be right as the components used in the test unit can easily dig a huge hole in your wallet. Take the new SSDs, for example. They cost about 6 to 10 times more than regular hard drives.
