I have a Toshiba Satellite with a broken volume control wheel on the front of the laptop. The wheel seams to have come off its hinge. The problem being that when it came off, the volume setting was set to off, so I have no volume on my laptop anymore.

The hinge can really slide apart slightly, which allows it to fit over both metal tabs on the Dell laptop keyboard base. Once it is sitting in place as shown, it will be simpler to place the key on if you “compact” the hinge back together. That is, push the right-side underneath part of the hinge towards the left.
