How To Reinstall Windows Xp From Recovery Disc In A Sony Vaio Laptop?

The Sony Vaio recovery disc contains all Sony software + Windows XP installation files. Sony Web pages never show any support for this problem. Is there any way to reinstall a corrupt Windows XP, without installing the rest of other softwares?

If your copy of Windows XP is corrupt this probably means that your hard drive is failing. So back up your data first (also in case the recovery process wipes it). If you don’t like the Sony software you can uninstall it.

normally you have to boot from the disk

    Turn on the computer
Watch for a bios message saying how to enter the bios setup… follow the instrutions.
Set the boot order to “CD, A, C”
Exit in the manner that saves.
place the CD in the CD drive
    Turn off the computer
    Turn on the computer
    follow the on-screen instructions.

You can try for a recovery nstall that does not format… but it rarely works.
The option will be given by the CD
If it fails… you just restart the reinsatall and tell it to format.

Just drop the disk in the rom drive, and when it questions you, click repair. It may spin for a while before it questions you, as it’s ‘reading’ your installed system. This keeps it from installing duplicate files, and folders. The repair will fix the corrupted registry system files is all! Don’t fret, just place it in!

No; you’ll have to use a generic Windows XP disc for that.
The recovery discs also contain all the drivers necessary to run the hardware on that computer. Installing from a generic XP disc instead of the recoveries also means you might have to go driver hunting. Sony isn’t really very pro at hosting their drivers at their website, so you might want to save the drivers from this installation of Windows before destroying it. If it’s too corrupt to transfer drivers from, use the recovery discs to reinstall a Sony Vaio Windows XP first, copy the drivers from that, and then install a generic XP.

Yes you can make a repair installation.
Simply insert the Windows XP in the disk drive and the reboot the system.
The instalation process will start and.during the installation process you will be given the option of making a repair choose this option and the installation will attempt a repair for your existing windows XP .
