I have a Toshiba Satellite that I bought in 2002, two months ago I was having power issues and found that there was a problem with the outlet. Is this simple to replace? I am mechanically inclined and have no problem taking things apart and putting back together. Is this a separate piece or is it part of the motherboard unit on this computer? Would Fry’s likely have this part?

The outlet is soldered on the motherboard so you cannot replace it.If you want you can open the case and check if there is a crack on the pins and reheat it.It is a pain though to expose the motherboard be very careful and patient.
