How Do I Make An External Keyboard Work On Toshiba Satellite?

I have a keyboard – perfectly functionally – left over from a Dell desktop I had a few years ago. I want to plug it into my Toshiba Satellite and type from afar. The keyboard had a PS/2 plug, of course, so I bought a USB adaptor. My laptop (running XP SP2) can’t recognize it. It calls it an unknown device and says I don’t have the drivers for it. I’ve tried to update my keyboard driver, to no avail. What do I need to do to get it working?

Download general keyboard driver, and check to make sure that the driver you are trying to install matches the type of keyboard you are using. If all else fails get another keyboard.

have you shutdown ur laptop since you’ve done all this. Sometiems a reboot helps!
