hi jeza
from past experience mate just check the type of pcmcia card the thinkpad uses as there are two types
the newer type used today are 32bit pcmcia cards, however older laptops like th thinkpads and compaq amarda,s use 16bit pcmcia cards
this is probally the reason the thinkpad dosent seem to owrk,i had the same problem and spent hours trying to find a solution but to no avail
there are 16bit pcmcia wireless network cards but they are very rare, the best place to look is ebay
have a look at these links i have found
1>http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ADVENT-WIRELESS-MO…
2>http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/802-11g-PCMCIA-WIR… one is backwards compatible)
3>bingo...this is the baby>http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FAST-WIRELESS-WIFI… 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Vista
PC card lot (this card fits both "16bit/5V" and "32bit/3.3V" slot)
hope this helps, any problems let me know
good luck jeza !
