The simplest and best way is to reinstall Windows from a recovery disk.
If it’s really sensitive or embarassing data then there is a free eraser program called Heidi eraser. It writes and rewrites 1s and 0s on the drive. Seehttp://www.heidi.ie/node/6
if the data is nothing to worry about then just use recovery disk
You can buy software for writing over and deleting the unwanted files, it copies over the files multiple times and then gives the option to delete. You can install the operating system from recovery CD’s and this will write over every thing and place the lap top operating system (Windows) back to new factory condition.

I’ve been told that the name and certain other information that was entered during the initial registration process of the system, cannot be edited or erased.
I want to know if that’s right.
Find the recovery disc that came with his computer. Insert the disc, and reboot.
