I have an Acer Aspire 4715Z and it does not work if you plug it in a toshiba LCD Projector. Even if a use the function F5 to activate the LCD mode of the laptop.

If running Vista is is possible you have the resolution set too high for the projector. Most projectors have a lower resolution.
