I amd looking to buy a cheap used laptop for my small brother who is going to study in USA so we can keep in touch. What should I look for in laptops and is thinkpad the same as laptop?

I’m not looking for anything fancy. I’m simply looking for something with enough space for Photoshop. This laptop would mainly be used for schoolwork, (ie. typing notes, homework)
