Inbuilt battery – (which Apple advertises as capable of lasting between 9 to 10 hours.) Not right. Real world battery life is between 3 to 6 hours depending on what tasks you use your computer for.
Software included is OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and the iLife 09 suite of content creation tools. A 1 year warranty on parts and 90 day telephone technical support is standard.

The Macbook as it is – is excellent for basic computing activities – such as browsing the web, typing articles or watching movies. But, if you’re plotting to buy a Macbook for multimedia work, such as editing high resolution photos or WIFI MINI PCI-E Network Card HD videos and plot to use multiple applications at the same time, please ensure that you upgrade the ram from 2gb to 4gb.

Why?

Because using a macbook with 2 gb of ram (such as this one) to multitask is a Fantastic way to drive yourself crazy as the computer struggles to keep up. Try editing 10 megapixel RAW images while playing music in iTunes with Safari open. 2gb of ram is not at all adequate for multitasking / using processor intensive applications on a Macbook. I know that Apple has to differentiate between the Macbook and MBPro to justify the price differences but skimping on the ram and putting 2gb inside a 9 product and thus, affecting the user experience is not the way to do it.

Upgrading the ram yourself from 2gb to 4gb is a fantastic thought – EXCEPT – the price of DDR3 1066 mhz ram (compatible with Macbook and MB Pro) is still high. Currently, Crucial CT2KIT25664BC1067 4GB 204-PIN PC3-8500 SODIMM DDR3 Memory KIT (2GBx2) costs 1. So that brings your total to 80 (9 MB + 1 Ram) if you upgrade your Macbook’s ram

So for only more than your Macbook, (if you take into account the cost of the ram upgrade) a viable alternative is the standard Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop which costs 60 on Amazon. The MBP 13 comes with the added benefits of a more durable aluminum unibody, a backlit keyboard, an SD card slot, a firewire 800 port and most importantly, 4gb of ram. Which allows you to multitask effortlessly.

If you’re going to use the Macbook for any computationally demanding activities such as content creation, editing large RAW images or HD videos you should upgrade the ram to 4gb or just buy the standard MBPro 13 inch. The processor and hard drive are the same in both the MB and MBPro 13 ( 2.4 ghz Core 2 duo and 250gb hard drives ) But the 4gb ram will make a huge difference in the daily usage experience.

But, if you only want to use the Macbook for general tasks like writing articles, browsing websites or watching movies, it will handle those duties adequately.

As a student, I was pretty hesitant to get the MacBook, but after MONTHS of exhaustive research looking for the right laptop (I’m a networking student, and also I am working on my A+ PC Repair certification, so I know a thing or two about PC’s and Windows), I chose that I needed a change in my life. I’ve had an IBM ThinkPad T60 last me four years through school, but after 4 re-install’s of XP, I’ve had enough of the constant attacks of viruses, spyware, etc…and I chose to go with the MacBook.

PROS:

Perfect for web browsing, e-mail, and document creation.

Comes with fantastic features right out of the box: iLife simply rocks; it comes with PhotoBooth, Garageband (where you can make your own music or learn to how play an instrument), Preview, and iMovie (it’s basically an simpler version of Windows Movie Maker)

Time Machine for backing up documents and pictures, which is FAR SUPERIOR than using the Backup Feature in Windows.

Wi-Fi is SO Simple to set-up using what Apple calls “Airport”, just go to the wi-fi antenna at the top of the right-hand corner and set-up right there.

Printing: Coming from a Windows world, and living in a household with a wireless network, setting up a printer was a pain in the butt with Windows, with Mac, it’s SO Simple to set-up and start printing.

BlueTooth: BlueTooth is common in all laptops nowadays, and again, like setting up a printer, it basically connects with the BlueTooth device automatically.

MagSafe Adapter: Apple introduced this thought called MagSafe. If someone got caught on your power cord, it would take the cord and not the computer. I can’t tell you how many times my dogs got caught on my IBM power cord and basically nearly took the computer with it.

Battery Life: Wow, what a difference. I was coming from a half-hour IBM thinkpad t43 battery life on my IBM, although Apple says that the battery can last on a 10 hours on a single charge, in the real world, it’s falls under 6 hours, but still this is pretty incredible.

CONS:

2GB of RAM. Now coming from a Windows world, Windows is a memory hogger, so the more RAM you have in a Windows system, you are excellent to go, but with a Mac, it’s different. Now if you are compressing 1080p video on a MacBook, the system starts to hick-up trying to catch-up. My advice? Upgrade to 4GB or get the MacBook Pro.

EXPENSIVE: Like all Apple products, it’s pretty expensive. I was pretty hesitant to buy a MacBook because it was pretty pricey and being a student i.e. poor, I needed to save up a excellent chunk of money to buy one of these machines.

So if you are in the market for a new laptop, only need to do some document making, and web-browsing this Mac is for you. If you want to do some high-end video compression, go with the MacBook Pro since the Pro lines are more aimed at high-end video production. This is certainly a perfect system if all you want is just web-browsing and document creation.

A secretive Texas startup developing what some are calling a “game changing” energy-storage technology broke its silence this week. It announced that it has reached two production milestones and is on track to ship systems this year for use in electric vehicles.

EEStor’s ambitious goal, according to patent documents, is to “replace the electrochemical battery” in nearly every application, from hybrid-electric and pure-electric vehicles to laptop computers to utility-scale electricity storage.

The company boldly claims that its system, a kind of battery-ultracapacitor hybrid based on barium-titanate powders, will dramatically outperform the best lithium-ion batteries on the market in terms of energy density, price, charge time, and safety. Pound for pound, it will also pack 10 times the punch of lead-acid batteries at half the cost and without the need for toxic materials or chemicals, according to the company.

The implications are enormous and, for many, unbelievable. Such a breakthrough has the potential to radically transform a transportation sector already flirting with an electric renaissance, improve the performance of intermittent energy sources such as wind and sun, and increase the efficiency and stability of power grids–all while fulfilling an oil-addicted America’s quest for energy security.

The breakthrough could also pose a threat to next-generation lithium-ion makers such as Watertown, MA-based A123Systems, which is working on a plug-in hybrid storage system for General Motors, and Reno, NV-based Altair Nanotechnologies, a supplier to all-electric vehicle maker Phoenix Motorcars.

“I get a small skeptical when somebody thinks they’ve got a silver bullet for every application, because that’s just not consistent with reality,” says Andrew Burke, an expert on energy systems for transportation at University of California at Davis.

That said, Burke hopes to be proved incorrect. “If [the] technology turns out to be better than I reckon, that doesn’t make me sad: it makes me pleased.”

Richard Weir, EEStor’s cofounder and chief executive, says he would prefer to keep a low profile and let the results of his company’s innovation speak for themselves. “We’re well on our way to doing everything we said,” Weir told Technology Review in a rare interview. He has also worked as an electrical engineer at computing giant IBM and at Michigan-based automotive-systems leader TRW.

Much like capacitors, ultracapacitors store energy in an electrical field between two closely spaced conductors, or plates. When voltage is applied, an electric charge builds up on each plate.

Ultracapacitors have many advantages over traditional electrochemical batteries such as IBM 02K7016 battery, IBM ThinkPad R60 Battery and IBM ThinkPad T60 Battery. Unlike batteries, “ultracaps” can completely absorb and release a charge at high rates and in a virtually endless cycle with small degradation.

Where they’re weak, but, is with energy storage. Compared with lithium-ion batteries, high-end ultracapacitors on the market today store 25 times less energy per pound.

This is why ultracapacitors, with their ability to release quick jolts of electricity and to absorb this energy just as quick, are ideal today as a complement to batteries or fuel cells in electric-drive vehicles. The power burst that ultracaps provide can help with stop-start acceleration, and the energy is more efficiently recaptured through regenerative braking–an area in which ultracap maker Maxwell Technologies has seen significant results.

In a traditional ultracap, that permittivity is given a rating of 20 to 30, while EEStor’s claim is 18,500 or more–a phenomenal number by most accounts. “This is a very huge step for us,” says Weir. “This puts me well onto the road of meeting high-volume production.”

Jim Miller, vice president of advanced transportation technologies at Maxwell Technologies and an ultracap expert who spent 18 years doing engineering work at Ford Motor, isn’t so convinced.

“We’re skeptical, number one, because of leakage,” says Miller, explaining that high-voltage ultracaps have a tendency to self-discharge quickly. “Meaning, if you leave it parked overnight it will discharge, and you’ll have to charge it back up in the morning.”

He also doesn’t believe that the ceramic structure–brittle by nature–will be able to handle thermal stresses that are bound to cause microfractures and, ultimately, failure. Finally, EEStor claims that its system works to specification in temperatures as low as -20 °C, revised from a previous claim of -40 °C.

“Temperature of -20 degrees C is not excellent enough for automotive,” says Miller. “You need -40 degrees.” By comparison, Altair and A123Systems claim that their lithium-ion cells can operate at -30 °C.

Burke, meanwhile, says that there’s a huge difference between making powder in a controlled environment and making defect-free devices in a large quantity that can survive underneath the hood of a car.

“I have no doubt you can develop that kind of [ceramic] material, and the mechanism that gives you the energy storage is clear, but the first question is whether it’s truly applicable to vehicle applications,” Burke says, pointing out that the technology seems more appropriate for utility-scale storage and military “ray guns,” for which high voltage is an advantage.

Safety is another concern. What happens if a vehicle packed with a 3,500-volt energy system crashes?

Weir says the voltage will be stepped down with a bi-directional converter, and the whole system will be secured in a grounded metal box. It won’t have a problem getting an Underwriters Laboratories safety certification, he adds. “If you drive a stake through it, we have ways of fusing this thing where all the energy is sitting there but it won’t arc … It will be the safest battery the world has ever seen.”

Regarding concerns about temperature, leakage, and ceramic brittleness, Weir did not answer to an e-mail asking him how EEStor overcomes such issues.

Nonetheless, the company has some solid backing. Its board has attracted Morton Topfer, former vice chairman of Dell and mentor to Michael Dell.

The company is also backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a venture-capital powerhouse that has an impressive track record: it made early and highly successful bets on Google, Amazon.com, and Sun Microsystems, among others. Whether EEStor can translate that success to the energy sector remains to be seen.

“I’m surprised that Kleiner has place money into it,” says Miller.

Weir maintains that his company will meet all of its claims, and then some. “We’re not trying to hype this. This is the first time we’ve ever talked about it. And we will continue to meet all of the production requirements.”

Dell’s recall of 4.1 million laptop batteries has renewed the discussion about the effectiveness of modern power sources. For the last decade, mobile technologies have become more pervasive and smaller and chipsets have become more powerful. It’s been a wonderful time for handheld devices and laptops.

But, advances in batteries — and whether this fact is right or perceived is still up in the air — have lagged behind advances in memory and computing power. (The New York Times has an fascinating article about the current developments in battery research.)

More often than not, the largest impediment for me, as I cart around a cornucopia of devices, is hauling the mass of wires and power sources I need to make everything go for extended periods. In other words, we’re facing the same problem today — the power supply problem — that Nicholas Negroponte wrote about in his 1995 Being Digital.

Here is a snippet from the book:

If the progress in battery technology developed at the same pace as integrated circuits, we would be commuting to work in cars powered by flashlight batteries. Instead, I carry more than ten pounds of batteries when traveling in order to feed my laptop on a long flight. Over time, batteries for laptops have gotten heavier, as notebook computers have bought more functions and brighter displays. (In 1979 Sony’s Typecorder, the first laptop, used only four AA batteries.)

A few years back, I talked with researchers in one of IBM’s battery such as IBM 92P1101 Battery, IBM ThinkPad R40 Battery, IBM ThinkPad R32 Battery research groups. What struck me — and this thought came back as I re-read Negroponte’s work and skimmed the Dell articles — was IBM’s research focused on reducing battery power leakage. That, they thought, was the best chance for improving battery power, even though their work would lead to only minimal gains.

It’s an fascinating quandary for mobile computing, one that is likely to hamstring the industry for some time.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad T400s is a very thin, very light, and fully featured 14-inch widescreen laptop. Most people are familiar with Lenovo’s ThinkPad line and the T400 is a well featured, all-around bread & butter laptop. While the T Series was once the uber-svelte, latest & greatest flagship notebook of the ThinkPad family, recent iterations have seen proportions grow and uniqueness dwindle. Today Lenovo announced the ThinkPad T400s (note the ‘s’ moniker on the end, not to confused with plural T400′s), which sets out to bring innovation and class leadership back to the T Series.

Design

At first glance, the T400s looks like any other ThinkPad: black and rectangular. If you look a small closer, you will notice the subtly rounded edges, surprisingly thin profile, and very non-T400 port placement. The T400s brings in a number of design cues from the super-sleek X300/X301 models, including the same material construction.Carbon fiber is used for the top cover, with a unique glass fiber for the edges of the top cover to allow for un-diminished wireless signals. You’ll find a magnesium alloy in use on the bottom cover and keyboard bezel, adding to the chassis stiffness provided by the internal magnesium roll cage.

Open the black rectangle and you will see a familiar sight with a few tweaks. The TrackPoint and toucpad are redesigned with usability in mind, featuring larger TrackPoint buttons and a larger, textured multitouch-capable touchpad. Some of the system information LED’s have been redesigned and consolidated, leaving you WiFi, Bluetooth, and hard disk activity LED’s in the LCD bezel. But you also now have a Caps Lock LED on the key itself, mute and mic/webcam disable buttons with status LED’s, and the power button slowly blinks to indicate the system is in standby. These complement only two LED indicators on the exterior: a battery icon indicating AC power, system powered on, and battery status along with a sleep icon. Lenovo also updated their keyboard design, you will see the enlarged Esc and Del keys which have altered the layout. I will discuss more on that later.

The hinges are still silver, unlike the black metal hinges present on the X300/X301 models, and the speakers are placed on either side of the keyboard for optimal listening. Many people took exception to the T400′s off-center 14-inch widescreen, but the T400s has a centered screen. If you take a look at the bottom panel, you will see a honestly clean chassis with a single expansion cover to remove and standard 6-cell battery integrated into the front of the machine. Note that there is no room for an extended battery with this design.

Size and Weight

Having spent a lot of time with a regular T400, I can say that it is a bit on the portly side. Most configurations will weigh in at over 5 lb and it is about 1.1-inches thin. Combine that with the dimensions of a 14-inch widescreen and it is quite unwieldy as a portable machine. The T400s is like the T400′s skinny relative, weighing in at only 3.91 lb and a mere 0.83-inches thin. That difference in numbers really adds up when you get it in your hands. Thanks to the advanced materials and internal roll cage, the T400s is not only thin but incredibly rigid as well. Picking it up by one corner feels exceptionally sturdy and lightweight, like a heavy duty (paper) notebook.

Keyboard and Touchpad

ThinkPads have always been crowned as having the world’s best keyboards and the T400s continues, if not elevates, that lineage. The full 7-row layout is still present here and the typing experience is immaculate.Tactile response, key travel, and general stiffness are all incredible. Some of the regular T400 systems were plagued with extremely spongy keyboards, but the T400s looks to be void of any such problems.Ignoring the layout change for a moment, Lenovo also enlarged the size of the base of the keys to reduce any crumbs and such from getting in the keyboard tray. This doesn’t affect the key spacing itself, it appears they simply added more of a sloped base to each key to fill in the gaps; it appears to be a rather effective technique.

As I alluded to earlier, Lenovo did change the keyboard layout a bit. They did a study and found that the Esc and Del keys were highly utilized, but also a bit harder to use accurately and efficiently. To help remedy this, they enlarged the Del and Esc keys to nearly double their previous dimensions. To make room for this, they did have to compress the Function keys a bit and go the Ins key to the top row of the keyboard. In my experience typing on this machine, these changes were not overly detrimental. I found reaching for some of my common Fn combinations with my left hand to be trying, as I was always a key off from what I intended. Also users who relied on the Ins key will be very affected, as it is in a very distinctly different position now. I personally never had distress hitting the Del and Esc keys, but I can see how this change would help those with smaller hands or who had other accuracy problems.

For those of you not familiar, the TrackPoint is Lenovo’s “pointing stick” device that provides the same functionality as a mouse or touchpad. The red nubbin acts like a joystick and for those adjusted to the device, it proves to be highly accurate and allows you to mouse around without removing your hands from your typing position. The TrackPoint mouse buttons have been enlarged and softened a bit, with more of a curve than the sharp peak on other designs. I did not find this to impact my usability at all and I don’t reckon anyone will have distress adjusting.

The touchpad is another area Lenovo changed in the name of usability. In an effort to keep the system as thin as possible, the touchpad was brought flush with the palm rest and given a unique texture to differentiate from the palm rest. It is also larger than the rather small one found on regular T400 models, and now support multitouch features. The T400s’ touchpad is incredibly responsive and natural to use, with a sufficient surface area to be comfortable and efficient.

Show Quality

ThinkPads are traditionally business models and aren’t exactly known for high quality displays. A few models had exceptional LCD panels, but most are just average, including the regular T400. The new T400s uses a 14.1-inch 16:10 ratio widescreen LCD running 1440×900 resolution. This LCD is exceptionally bright, with plenty of brightness steps to find the optimum level. When viewing at the sweet spot angle, you will be in like with the T400s’ screen. It is bright, vibrant, and features crisp, dark blacks. Unfortunately, like most ThinkPad LCD’s and many matte LCD’s too, go about 5-10 degrees off the centerline and you dramatically lose dark details. Advance much further and you will see significant color inversing, although light colors remain in excellent contrast throughout. There is enough of a sweet spot on this panel that you won’t constantly be fidgeting, and the brightness and colors really are superb, but the T400s’ show doesn’t quite impress.

Ports & Connectivity

Despite being uber thin and light, the T400s has literally every port or connection you might need.Lenovo/IBM ThinkPad X60 Every acronym and abbreviation you can reckon of is included for wireless: 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi (with three card choices), Verizon or AT&T WWAN, UWB, Bluetooth, and WiMAX. Ethernet is included as well, although the prehistoric modem has been dropped and you can get a USB model if you need it. You’ll get 3 USB 2.0 ports on the T400s, including one that doubles as an eSATA port, and the choice between an ExpressCard34 slot or 5-in-1 card reader.

Vielseitiger Notebook PC für kleine Budgets. So preist HP seinen 15.6-Zoller G62-130EG an. Und das Gerät hat laut Konfiguration tatsächlich einiges zu bieten. Neben einem aktuellen Core i3-330M gibt es eine schnell drehende 500 GB Festplatte (7.200 rpm). Als besonderes Schmankerl steckt eine ATI DirectX-11 Grafikkarte der 5er-Serie drin. Ein Allrounder-Laptop für den kleinen Geldbeutel? Dell Inspiron E1505 Akku Wir prüfen, ob der G62-130EG gute Notebook-Qualitäten besitzt und ob er den guten Eindruck der Konfiguration im praxisnahen Test bestätigt.

Gehäuse

Das Gehäuse des G62-130EG wirkt erfrischend anders. HP setzt auf eine Mac Book ähnliche Formsprache mit Unibody-Look. Wir haben es aber nicht mit einem Alu Gehäuse aus einem Stück zu tun, sondern mit homogen wirkenden Gehäusekomponenten. Wo andere Base Units durch keilförmige Verschlankungen eine moderne Slim-Optik zu erzeugen versuchen, erstellt HP auf den ersten Blick ein symmetrisches Chassis. Die Toshiba PA3399U-2BRS Akku schwarze Bodenplatte täuscht das Auge aber ein wenig: eine Keilform ist vorhanden, das Chassis wird vorn flacher.

Das 2.55 Kilogramm schwere Gehäuse eignet sich durch seine Unempfindlichkeit für den mobilen Einsatz und durch seine Nüchternheit für den Arbeitsplatz Zuhause oder in der Studentenbude. Die Hände berühren eine angenehme Oberfläche auf der Arbeitsumgebung. Der Kunststoff mit Prismamuster (Farbe = Biscotti) berührt sich griffig aber immer noch glatt. Fingerabdrücke oder Schmierflächen haben hier keine Chance. HP 530 Akku Diese finden nur im schwarz spiegelnden Show-Rahmen einen Rückzugsort.

Das kompakt wirkende Gehäuse Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T61 Akku ist stabil und vermittelt durch saubere Spaltmaße einen wertigen Eindruck. Zwei Hände können das Chassis zwar verwinden, aber die Verbiegungen sind nur marginal. Die Handballenauflage ist an jeder Stelle fest, gleiches gilt für das Tastenbett (auch über dem DVD-Laufwerk).

Den Deckel können wir einfacher verbiegen, jedoch nur mit einem begrenzten Spielraum. Durch sein steife Fläche und die Griffigkeit entsteht ein wertiger Eindruck. Die Deckel-Fläche kann mit Druck in der Mitte eingedellt werden.

Der Akku kann für den Einsatz auf dem Schreibtisch entnommen werden. Das HP Compaq Business Notebook NX6125 Akku Entriegeln und Herausnehmen funktioniert mit nur einer Hand. Es entsteht kein Loch in der Arbeitsumgebung. Die stabilen Aluminium-Scharniere halten den Deckel sicher in Position. Sie sitzen dabei so stramm, dass wir zwei Hände zum Öffnen des Deckels benötigen. Die Scharniere selbst sitzen sicher in ihrer Arretierung. Der maximale Aufklappwinkel von 135 Grad ist für den Betrieb auf dem Schoß mehr als ausreichend.

Die Bodenplatte lässt sich nur an den Lüftungsöffnungen etwas eindellen. Die Dell Vostro 1510 Akku beiden Öffnungen an der Unterseite bieten Aufrüst-Möglichkeiten: Festplatte, Arbeitsspeicher (DDR3 SDRAM) und WLAN-Modul (Mini PCI-Express).

Ausstattung

Für das Anschließen der üblichen Peripherie wie Drucker, Router, Maus oder externer Festplatte bringt das HP G62-130EG eine begrenzte Menge von Anschlüssen mit. E-SATA (externe HDDs), Show-Port oder FireWire gehören nicht dazu. Externe Dell Vostro 1310 Akku TFTs oder Fernseher können wir an HDMI oder an die analoge VGA-Schnittstelle anschließen.

USB-Steckplätze gibt es nur drei Stück. Die Position des VGA- und des HDMI-Ports (links, hinterer Bereich) und des rechten USB-Ports (hinterer Bereich) erscheint für eine übersichtliche Kabelführung auf dem Schreibtisch sinnvoll. Beim Einsatz der Maus rechts dell akku oder links wird diese nämlich nicht durch einen Kabelstrang behindert. Das vertieft sitzende Scharnier verhindert eine Steckplatz-Nutzung der Rückseite.

WLAN im schnellsten Draft-N Standard (WLAN 802.11bgn) unterstützt der Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter. Ein integriertes Bluetooth-Modul ist aber nicht an Bord. Die Realtek Netzwerkkarte ist im Gegensatz dazu nicht auf der Höhe der Zeit. Es handelt sich um einen Quick Ethernet Adapter. Wer Zuhause einen Gigabit-Switch nutzt, der wird selbigen mit dem HP G62 nicht auslasten können

Eingabegeräte

Tastatur

Die Tasten bieten dem Schreiber einen deutlichen Druckpunkt und einen großen Tastenhub. Der sony akku Tastenanschlag ist mit einem dumpfen Klick-Geräusch relativ weich und alles andere als hart. Wer keinen harten Tastenanschlag mag, der wird das Tippgefühl mögen. Die Tasten liegen flächig fest auf, nur um die DFG-Tasten herum gibt es einen kleinen Bereich, der nachgibt.

HP verzichtet zu Gunsten einer großen Tastatur auf einen Ziffernblock. Den rechten Bereich zieren daher nur die Bild Auf/Ab-, Entfernen-, Pos1- und Ende-Tasten. Dies kann sich als angenehm herausstellen, da diese Tasten ansonsten irgendwo im rechten Layout untergebracht werden. Speziell die Entfernen-Taste direkt in der Ecke gefällt.

Touchpad

Der Mausersatz ist ein Synaptics Multitouch-Pad (LuxPad V7.4). Seine Oberfläche ist homogen mit der Handauflage und bedient sich angenehm zügig. Der Name LuxPad bezieht sich auf den Lichtsensor links oben im Pad. Decken wir diesen beim Tippen mit der Hand ab, deaktiviert sich die Touch-Fläche. Dies verhindert ungewollte Eingaben und macht ein manuelles Abschalten des Mousepads überflüssig. Eine entsprechende Fn-Taste gibt es auch nicht. Der Sensor kann auch so eingestellt werden, dass er das Pad komplett deaktiviert/aktiviert.

Die Touch-Fläche besitzt eine horizontale und eine vertikale Scrollbar, auch wenn optisch nicht markiert. Der horizontale Bildlauf ist im Auslieferungszustand deaktiviert und kann über die Mauseigenschaften reaktiviert werden. Die Tasten klicken quick unhörbar leise, verlangen aber bei einem so gut wie nicht existenten Hub einen relativ hohen Druck. Dadurch ist das Feedback gering und die Apple A1185 Battery Bedienung unangenehm.

Show

HP legt an die Optik des 15.6-Zollers hohe Maßstäbe an. Für das TFT gilt das leider nicht. Das nicht entspiegelte LG-Philips-Panel (Typ LP156WH2-TLQA) löst mit 1.366 x 768 Bildpunkten auf (WXGA). Die 1.366×768 Pixel kommen dem Seitenverhältnis 16:9 sehr nahe. Der Schwachpunkt des LG-Philips-Panels liegt im geringen Kontrast von 159:1. Ein derart geringer Wert ist typisch für Office-Notebooks und viele Netbooks. Das Glare-Type-Panel bessert die geringen Kontraste optisch auf, jedoch bleiben die blassen Farben mit dem bloßen Auge erkennbar. Eine schwarze Fläche wirkt nicht wie tiefes, Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T60 Battery reines Schwarz, sondern enthält einen grauen Schimmer.

Der Office-Fan würde sich wegen der Arbeitsplatz unfreundlichen Reflexionen eine matte Anzeige wünschen. Beim Konsumieren von Fotos, Filmen oder Computerspielen erhalten wir mit dem Glare Type aber immerhin halbwegs ansprechende Farben.

Die Luminanz tut es dem Kontrast gleich, sie ist gering. Im Acer Travelmate 2420 Battery Durchschnitt ermitteln wir eine Ausleuchtung von 182 cd/m². Das ist für den Einsatz in Innenräumen mehr als ausreichend. Sehr helle Umgebungen wie unter grellem Sonnenlicht werden aber mit einer dunklen Anzeige quittiert.

Wer seinen G62-130EG nach Draußen mitnimmt und im grellen Sonnenlicht arbeitet oder spielt, der wird wenig Freude an HPs Allrounder haben. Dem 15.6-Zoll Panel fehlt eine Entspiegelung, die Reflexionen verhindert. Für Office-Notebooks wäre Non-Glare der klassische Panel-Typ. Das G62 ist aber ein Multimedia-Notebook, auf dem Farben hübsch aussehen sollen. Erschwerend kommt die geringe Luminanz von 182 cd/m² hinzu. Das Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T61 Battery TFT ist damit unter Tageslicht einfach zu dunkel, um angemessen etwas ablesen zu können.

Horizontal können wir maximal bis zu 45 Grad von der frontalen Ansicht abweichen, dann dunkelt die Anzeige ab und Farben verfälschen. Vertikal beginnt der Invertierungseffekt schon bei geringster Abweichung von 10 Grad. Farben verblassen und das Bild verdunkelt sich. Im Dunkelkammer-Foto sind die Farbintervierungen des G62 gut erkennbar. Gleiche Einschränkungen erleben wir aus Presario CQ50 Battery seitlichem Blick von Oben oder Unten.
